Obituary for Raymond Earl Hoskins

Mr. Raymond Earl Hoskins, 73, of Richmond, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the Baptist Health – Richmond.
Raymond was born in Clark County Kentucky on December 18, 1945 to the late James and Nancy Crawford Hoskins. He attended Madison High School but in 1963, at the age of 17, he left school to join the Army. He was stationed in Germany where he trained troops during the Vietnam War. After he was discharged from the Army he returned to Richmond where he volunteered with the Richmond Fire Department for a short time until they hired him full time. Over the years Raymond worked his way up through the ranks of the department to where he achieved the rank of Assistant Chief – a position he held until his retirement in 1993. After his retirement Raymond also worked at EKU in the maintenance department for several years. He also loved working with Rescue animals.
Survivors include: his wife of 25 years, Nada Quillen Hoskins; two brothers, James Hoskins (Linda), and Stanley “Boots” Hoskins (Pat); one sister, Anna Scrivner; four special dogs, Angel, Corkie, Buddy and Marley; as well as a host of other extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 13, 2019, at his farm - 280 Waco Loop, Waco, KY 40385 - with Rev. Chad Snellgrove officiating. A scattering of ashes will follow the service.
Raymond had a card that he often carried around with him and the family would like to share it with you – “If we met and you forgot me, you have lost nothing – But if you meet, JESUS CHRIST and forget him, you have lost everything.
The Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
