Obituary for Jimmy Craig Rogers

Jimmy Craig Rogers, 79, of College Hill Rd., passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 21, 2020.
He was born in Garrard Co., Ky. on April 13, 1941, the son of the late Paul and Edith Sharpe Rogers. He graduated from Buckeye High School, attended Cumberland College, received a B. S. Degree from Eastern Ky. University and was a retired Auditor of Public Accounts with the State of Kentucky. He was Past President of Waco Elementary PTO, a Past Cub Scout Master of Troop 296, and a former member of Richmond Jaycees. He served in the U. S. Army and Kentucky National Guard. He was a member of the Madison Co. Board of Elections and was currently serving on the Madison Co. Board of Adjustments.
Jimmy was a active member of Madison (Kirksville) Lodge No. 183 F. & A. M. & Waco Lodge No. 338 F. & A. M. He served as District Deputy Grand Master, District 25, Grand Lodge of Kentucky, was Past Master and Secretary of Waco 338 and Past Master and former Secretary of Kirksville 183. He was a member of Richmond Chapter No. 16 – Royal Arch Masons, a member of Royal Council No. 71 – Royal & Select Masters, and a member of Richmond Commandry No. 19, Knights Templar.
He held dual membership with Kirksville Baptist Church and College Hill United Methodist Church where he had retired as Treasurer.
Survivors include his wife, Betsy Campbell Rogers; one son, Daniel (Ashley) Rogers; two daughters, Ruth (Hugo) Hernandez & Rebekah (Adam) Shoopman; 7 Grandchildren, Natalie, Peyton, Easton, Paityn, Arizona, Mia, & Adrian; a sister, Joan (Russell) Hurt; several nieces and nephews and numerous other family members.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Toni Rogers.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 27, 2020 at College Hill United Methodist Church with Bro. James Atherton officiating. Masonic Services will be conducted and Military Rites will be observed. Burial will follow in Flatwoods Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 PM at the church.
Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
