Obituary for Eugene Rice

Mr. Eugene Rice, 89, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday evening, March 17, 2020 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born in Crab Orchard, Kentucky on January 7, 1931 to the late Phillip and Eva Hendrickson Rice. Mr. Rice honorably served his country during the Korean War as a member of the US Army and was a retired employee of the Ford Motor Company. He also was a former minister having served in Ohio and various churches in Kentucky. Mr. Rice was a member of the Lexington Road Church of God.
Survivors include: his wife of 12 years, Zelma Rice; his daughters, Genia Denisio (Charles) and Charlene Rice (Jason Glass); his grandchildren, Nicholas Denisio, Dustin Denisio (Megan), and Sam Glass; two brothers, Jasper Rice (Wilma), and Franklin Odell Rice; three sisters, Verdie Hilton, Mary VanHook (Clyde), and Joyce Helton (Jackie); two step-children, Timothy Gabbard (Jewell), and Rhonda Johns (James); one brother-in-law, Jim Napier; as well as a host of other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Banks Rice (d. 2007); 1 brother, and 5 sisters.
Due to the current guidelines that have been requested by the CDC, the family has selected private family services with burial in Madison County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Rice are suggested to: the Beacon of Hope Emergency Shelter, 850 Bypass Rd., Winchester, KY 40391.
The Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the services.
